Jumbotron Mocked-Up at Wrigley Field (PHOTOS)

With all the bigwigs looking down from the rooftops (Owner - Tom Ricketts, President of Business Operation - Crane Kenny and (strangely) former head of marketing - Wally Hayward), the Cubs mocked up their proposed Jumbotron at Wrigley Field.

It's difficult to get a true handle on exactly how big this thing will be (they only had tarps hanging on opposite ends of a pole) but I can tell you that it will be very, very large and very much out of scale with the rest of the park.

Please take a gander:

former head of marketing Wally Haward was there as well (for some reason)

Cubs Mock-Up Giant Right Field Ad (PHOTOS)

Cranes fill the streets around the Wrigley Field Bleachers this morning as the Cubs mock-up their proposed advertisements. They started in right field with an ad for "FFFFFFFFFFFF" (surely Budweiser in the future) and boy, it is large.

The purpose of the mock-up is to show the City and the rooftop owners how these signs will impact the views in and plenty of folks are in the stadium and on the rooftops to take a gander.

There are more cranes on the left field side getting ready to hoist up something for the proposed Jumbotron. Stay tuned...

Cubs Go All "Old-Timey" With Proposed Wrigley Jumbotron (photos)

Don't call it a renovation. The Cubs prefer to call it a "restoration". And don't expect an effort to create a "new" Wrigley Field. Cubs President Crane Kenny told the Chicago Tribune: “It’s actually trying to make Wrigley old.”

Nothing says "old" quite like a gigantic videobaord.

But fear not Cubs fans, because this proposed jumbotron will look old-timey. As you can see below every bit of it will be painted Wrigley Green (it won't be) and on top it will say "Wrigley Field" (it won't) in old-timey cursive letters (cursive that's never existed in the ballpark). And I'm sure when instead it says "TOYOTA" - you'll still feel just like you're back in the old-times. It will also have ironwork that will copy the ironwork on top of Wrigley - that was made to look old-timey when they installed lights waaay back in 1988. Oh, and look: it will also have very subtle advertisements for the Cubs and for Cubs Charities. Very thoughtful, very tasteful, and... not at all what'll happen.
